Celebrate the Season in Canonsburg this Saturday

Christmas celebration

It’s that time of year again; Christmas trees are being cut, lights are being hung, and anticipation begins to build for the most festive day of the year. There’s no better way to ring in the season than to come out to Canonsburg’s Old Fashioned Christmas Celebration this Saturday, December 1st on Pike Street. Join friends, family, and neighbors and take part in holiday giving, gift shopping, parade watching, and so much more.

The event will begin at 10 AM with a live tree sale so that you and your family can go home and start decorating asap! In keeping with the giving spirit, for every fir sold at the event, another will be donated and delivered to a family in need in Washington County. The sale will be open all day until 8 PM, so no matter your schedule, you’ll be able to participate in this joyous occasion.

Beginning at 2 PM, there will be over 30 vendors set up to sell gifts as well as collect donations for Toys for Tots. You’re invited to bring a new, unwrapped toy that may brighten up a child’s Christmas morning, and while you’re at it you can shop for gifts for your loved ones. There’s nothing like checking people off your list early on, and it’s even better when you can give them a personal item from a local vendor.

5 PM will mark the start of the Christmas parade which will march down Pike Street between Jefferson Ave and Greenside Ave. Take in all the cheer, and be sure to look out for special guest characters from Frozen! Kids will also have the chance to visit a live nativity scene complete with a petting zoo and face painting station. Don’t miss an opportunity to get a picture with Santa, or a ride on a horse-drawn carriage. Plus, be sure you stick around for the epic Christmas tree light-up at 6:30 sharp!

Food trucks will be serving up delicious snacks from noon on, so come hungry and ready to welcome in the festivities in style with your community. Nothing beats the opportunity to relax and have fun while helping out those in need, so be sure to mark your calendars for this joyous event.
